Para el mismo a\u00f1o, la Diabetes hab\u00eda causado 6,7 millones de muertes (un gran aumento en comparaci\u00f3n con los 1,6 millones de muertes en 2016).<\/p><p>En la Diabetes tipo 1, el sistema inmunitario ataca y destruye las c\u00e9lulas beta, imposibilitando que el p\u00e1ncreas secrete insulina. Esto da como resultado altos niveles constantes de az\u00facar en la sangre, lo que conduce a da\u00f1os a largo plazo.<\/p><p>En la Diabetes Tipo 2, las c\u00e9lulas del cuerpo no usan suficiente glucosa en la sangre porque no responden a la insulina, o las c\u00e9lulas beta producen demasiada o muy poca insulina, o una combinaci\u00f3n de ambas.<\/p><p>Investigadores est\u00e1n evaluando el uso de c\u00e9lulas madres para tratar ambas diabetes tipo 1 y 2.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-e1e9f14\" data-id=\"e1e9f14\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c9cc4f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c9cc4f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Se proyecta que para el a\u00f1o 2030, la cantidad de personas con Diabetes aumentar\u00e1 a 643 millones y a 783 millones para 2045.<\/p><p>La Diabetes es una de las principales causas de ceguera, insuficiencia renal, ataques card\u00edacos, accidentes cerebrovasculares y amputaci\u00f3n de miembros inferiores.<\/p><p>La Diabetes Mellitus, tambi\u00e9n conocida como Hiperglucemia, es un grupo de enfermedades en las que la persona tiene niveles elevados de az\u00facar en la sangre (glucosa). Cuando el nivel de glucosa en la sangre aumenta, las c\u00e9lulas beta del p\u00e1ncreas liberan insulina, instruyendo a las c\u00e9lulas de todo el cuerpo para que tomen la glucosa de la sangre.<\/p><p>En la Diabetes tipo 1, el sistema inmunitario ataca y destruye las c\u00e9lulas beta, imposibilitando que el p\u00e1ncreas secrete insulina.
